Amazon Top Twenty

Dead and Kicking has been out for about six months now and I have been very happy with results. When I first published, I really didn’t know what to expect. Would anyone (besides friends and relatives) buy my book?

Well, the answer is yes! You have been buying it. In fact, Dead and Kicking just broke into the top twenty on Amazon.com yesterday. While it has been in the top twenty frequently on the Amazon.ca site, this is the first time it has hit the top twenty in the much larger US market.

Besides being an accomplishment in itself, hitting the top twenty also has the added benefit of increasing Dead and Kicking‘s visibility on Amazon. This means that even more readers looking for something to read in urban fantasy will see Harry’s first book and hopefully buy it.

A big thank you to everyone that has already bought Dead and Kicking. Can I ask a favour though? How about leaving a review on Amazon, Goodreads or whatever retailer you purchased your copy from? Reviews are the fuel in the marketing engine, especially for an independent author such as myself, and now that more people are finding Dead and Kicking, your favourable review might just be the extra push they need to decide to click ‘Buy’. It’s not hard to leave a quick, honest review. It only takes a couple sentences.

Early Review for Home Again

I received a nice surprise today – an early review on an advance copy of Home Again that I had sent out.

Home AgainHome Again is contemporary romance/romantica (yes, it has SEX). It was actually the very first book I ever wrote. I wrote it for two reasons: 1. There was this idea in my head and it wouldn’t leave me alone, and 2. To prove to myself I could do it. Actually, there was a third reason. I decided if I was going to write a book, I’d want to get it published so I picked a genre in which the publishing companies were still accepting unsolicited manuscripts, that is, manuscripts directly from the author rather than from an agent. I’m not going to get into the whole traditional vs. indie debate right now. I think I’ve made it pretty clear where I currently stand on the issue.  I’m just very happy to have the opportunity to share this story with you.  Home Again will always be dear to my heart.

I Love this Review

A little part of me can’t help but go ‘Squeeee!’ when I read a review like this about Dead and Kicking.  Click on the picture below to go to the review on Amazon, and please let them know if you thought the review was helpful.  It helps.

And also, I apologize. I really didn’t think of it as a cliffhanger.  I was thinking of it as more of a hook to the next book.  Honest.

Dead and Kicking – A Review and Interview by Chapter by Chapter

CbyC Review

whitespaceDead and Kicking by Lisa Emme was a read that had me chuckling pretty much throughout the whole book.  With a quirky main character and a gruff sexy homicide detective, and a world filled with supernatural beings to satisfy your craving, Dead and Kicking was a solid book 1 in The Harry Russo Diaries…

Reviews are Essential!

This was originally posted over at Precipice Books a couple of years ago but still applies.  I’m really trying to get my foot in the door on Amazon and especially on iTunes.  Apple iTunes is a huge potential market for ebooks. The more favourable reviews and likes I have there, the better my chances of getting noticed.

If you have already left a review at an online retailer or Goodreads, thank you! Please consider going to Amazon and iTunes (you have to log on to the iTunes store) and leaving a review there as well.  It will really help me out.
